Willow Smith looks back on past hair changes.

Discussing her choice when she was 11, Smith, 21, told the outlet, “I like to see glare, light bounce on my scalp.
“Shaving my head might be the most radical thing I’ve done in the name of beauty,” she added.
In a conversation with the magazine, Smith said, “As a black woman, there have been many layers to my relationship with growing hair and skin,” which has served as her “learning curve.”

She previously shaved her head in March 2020 and spent 24 hours in a glass room as part of a performance art installation at the Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
“I feel like I was throwing away a lot of history and emotional baggage,” Smith later explained in the following episode. red table talk“I’ve let go of six, seven, years of emotions.”
After shaving his head for the first time in 2012, Smith told PEOPLE in June 2019, “It was the perfect way to rebel.”
