It became a battle for the lead with two teams that have not lost yet this season. Carlo Ancelotti has opted for several rotations, lowering the average age of the XI from 29 for him to 27 for him. Rodrygo Goes and Eduardo Camavinga got the signal to start the match. It was a lively match, with goals scored by his two Brazilian jewels, Vinicius and Rodrygo.
Full match player ratings below:
Thibaut Courtois—6: We had to make three saves in this match, but it’s a shame we didn’t keep our first clean sheet in La Liga.
Dani Carvajal—7: First half of ups and downs. The defense was a mess: losing sight of Canales on goal and being skipped by Alex Moreno scored a throw-in that led to the goal.At the other end of the spectrum, offensively, Carvajal was brilliant. He popped out into the central position and clipped a perfect pass to Benzema, but was nearly converted. A short corner play then sent a mouth-watering cross into the box. He found a run in the box for Valverde to earn a pre-assist on the game-winning goal.
David Alaba – 7.5: He caught a run off the shoulder of Vinicius’ backline and put the ball over the top into the Brazilian’s path for a nice assist.
Millitons—9: Absolute Monster – Shut down Sergio Canales at the opportunity of a dangerous breakaway, wiping out everything in his path. I sprayed several beautiful long diagonal passes.
Ferland Mendy—7: Nothing passed Ferland on Madrid’s left flank.
Chuameni—9: A great performance by the Frenchman on his debut at the Santiago Bernabéu. Earned the love and affection of his new fans. He made countless interceptions, was dominant physically and calm in possession. Looks like his early bargain purchase. Of his 50/50 duels he had a game high of 10 wins, 6 aerial duels, 4 interceptions and 7 tackles.
Luka Modric—7: It’s so much fun to watch the little Croat work his magic. He made 3 key passes, 5 of 5 long balls and 2 dribbles. One downside is Canales’ lack of focus on goal.
Eduardo Camavinger—5.5: I still struggle to make the same impact from the start as I did off the bench. We didn’t have enough final balls today and had some issues in the second half.
Rodrygo goes—8.5: Good match with Alex Moreno. The combination with Benzema and Vinicius his junior is also great. It’s especially effective when he drifts left and delivers an overload, which required a couple of assists and threw a dangerous driven pass on goal. After connecting to Fede’s path for the first time, we’ve found a game winner.
Vinicius Jr. – 8.5: He scored in his third straight game after successfully breaking through the heart of Betis’ defense. As the game progresses, Vinicius’ role as the protagonist grows. This would be his Real Madrid team.
Karim Benzema – 5.5: Not the best yet. I feel like some passes were forced and I couldn’t get a shot on target.
Fede Valverde—8.5: A perfect impact replacement. Just seconds after entering, you’re cornering your opponents and winning the ball high up the pitch. He then makes a late-arriving run into the box from the right half-space to unlock the game-winning assist.
Toni Kroos—7: They dominated the game and controlled the tempo of the match in the final 10 minutes.
Dani Ceballos—8: A fireball of energy from the bench. He put the pressure up high, won possession and showed great touch in combination with Kroos and the others.
Antonio Rudiger—N/A: Second half substitution of Carvajal to see the results.
