‘FBI’ actor William Reynolds dies at 90

William Reynolds, best known for playing Special Agent Tom Colby on ABC’s FBI, has died at the age of 90.

News of his death was confirmed by son Eric Reynolds, who revealed that his beloved father died on August 24th.

He told Deadline that his father’s cause of death was the result of complications from non-COVID pneumonia.

Born William Reynolds, the actor enjoyed a glorious 40-year acting career after landing his first role in the early 1950s.

Some of Reynolds’ early credits include “The Battle at Apache Pass,” “Carrie,” and “Francis Goes to West Point,” according to his IMDb page.

In 1952, he played Lawrence Olivier’s son in ‘Carrie and Mustafa’.

The actor continued to serve in the Korean War before returning to the small screen and putting his name on the map.

He made a guest appearance on ‘Islanders’ and later appeared in an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’.

Reynolds appeared in ‘Maverick’ after appearing in the 1967 series ‘Dragnet’.

He also had several film credits, including ‘The Gambler of Mississippi’, ‘Gunsmoke’, ‘There’s Always Tomorrow’, ‘Off All Boats’ and ‘Unknown Lands’.

In 1966, Reynolds got his big break, playing Agent Colby on ABC’s The FBI, becoming his most famous role to date.

His stint on the show lasted two seasons before becoming a series regular and being asked to stay for six seasons.

He was married to actress Molly Sinclair for 42 years until her death in 1992.

A public memorial service honoring Reynolds will be held on September 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Miller Jones Menifee Memorial Park in Menifee, California.
